South Asia Summer Language Institute (SASLI)
- Location: University of Wisconsin – Madison
- Background: The SASLI program is an 8-week summer course and offers elementary and intermediate levels of modern South Asian languages. The 8-week program is equivalent to two full semesters of academic study. Instruction is from Monday to Friday for 4 hours each day.
- Languages offered: Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Malayalam, Marathi, Nepali, Pashto, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Sindhi, Sinhala, Tamil, Telegu, Tibetan, Urdu (Hindi is offered annually; many other languages offerings correlate with interest)
- Program Fee: $3,300; fee does not include cost of textbooks and living expenses but includes UW-Madison assessment fee
- 2010 Application Deadline: Friday, April 2, 2010 and international student application deadline is Monday, March 15, 2010.

- Location: Cornell University June 7 – June 16
- Background: The course will focus on spoken Nepali, practicing dialogues, exercise and improving vocabulary. Language instructors also emphasize reading and writing practice of the Devangari script. Faculty members are from Cornell University and the Cornell-Nepal Study Program at Tribhuvan University in Ithaca.
- Languages Offered: Nepali (and Sinhalese based on interest)
- Program Fee: $6,060 for tuition. There are limited US Department of Education fellowships available for US citizens and residents.

- Johns Hopkins Campus, Baltimore, Maryland
- June 1 – July 22, 2010
- Background: The Johns Hopkins summer program offers 8 weeks of training in Hindi-Urdu and focuses on the Devanagari script (Hindi) and Nastaliq script (Urdu). Students develop writing, reading, listening and speaking skills and incorporate group exercises, lectures, movies and presentations. The classes meet from Monday to Thursday from 5:30pm to 8:30pm.

- Background: The AIIS language programs are intensive and offered in various cities in India. Many courses require a pre-requisite however summer courses are offered at all levels, including novice.
- Languages offered: Hindi (Jaipur), Bengali (Kolkata), Punjabi (Mohali), Tamil (Madurai); Marathi (Pune), Urdu (Lucknow), Telugu (Vizag), Malayalam (Thiruvananthapuram) and Sanskrit (Pune) and Pali/Prakrit (Pune).
